Using Split & Settle
These terms cover your use of the Split & Settle iPhone app and this website, provided by Jaceal LLC (“we”, “us”). By using them, you agree to these terms. We’ve kept them in plain English.
The app is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which applies alongside these terms. If they ever conflict, the Apple EULA wins.
The numbers are help, not advice
Split & Settle does arithmetic for you: it reads receipts, splits amounts, applies tax and tip, converts currencies and totals things up. It’s a tool to help you, and you should check the results before relying on them — receipts can be misread, and exchange rates and tax rates can be out of date or different from what you’ll actually be charged.
Nothing in the app is tax, legal or financial advice. Features like business expenses, deduction rates, Reports and accounting exports are there for convenience. Check your own tax rules, or ask a professional, before you file anything.
Split & Settle Pro
Split & Settle is free to download, and splitting is free. Split & Settle Pro is a one-time in-app purchase — not a subscription — that adds unlimited trips, companies, Reports and the accounting export.
Pro is sold by Apple through the App Store, under Apple’s terms. Apple handles payment, and refunds are handled by Apple (you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com). You can restore Pro on your devices from Settings → Split & Settle Pro → Restore.
Pro supports Family Sharing, so members of your Family Sharing group can use it too, as set up in Apple’s Family Sharing settings.
Your data
Your bills are yours. They’re stored on your iPhone and, if you choose, in your own iCloud. You’re responsible for keeping backups — the app lets you back up and restore to a file anytime. See the privacy policy for details.
Acceptable use
Please use Split & Settle lawfully and don’t try to break, reverse-engineer or misuse it. When you share bills or send payment requests, you’re responsible for what you send and who you send it to.
Other services
Split & Settle can open Venmo, Cash App or PayPal, use Apple Maps and iCloud, and fetch exchange rates from public services. Those services are run by others under their own terms, and we’re not responsible for them. Payment links just open those apps — we never handle your money.
Provided as is
The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We work hard to make them accurate and reliable, but we can’t promise they’ll be error-free or always available.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Jaceal LLC isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses from relying on a calculation without checking it. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app changes. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the updated terms.
